Broken toilet, faucet, and sink repair services in Winnetka, ca & beyond

serving the san fernando valley & los angeles county

As fixtures age, they can begin to wear down, eventually causing leaks. Pressure fluctuations and hard minerals in the water contribute to worn faucets, toilet seals, shower heads, and disposals. Fortunately, City Plumbing & Rooter has been providing the highest quality fixture replacements, as well as major and minor plumbing repairs in Ventura County and surrounding areas for more than two decades.

faucet repairs & replacements

Did you know that a dripping faucet can waste more than 2,000 gallons of water per year? Oftentimes, homes that have fluctuating water pressure and/or hard water have seals inside of the faucets that become worn, leading to slow leaks. Our team works to make repairs on fixtures in good condition, whenever possible. If your kitchen or lavatory faucet has low water pressure, try removing and cleaning the aerator. Often clogged screens reduce water flow. When your faucets drip after turning them off, are loose, or have low water pressure, you can rely on our team at City Plumbing & Rooter to come and identify the problem.

If the faucet cannot be repaired, it is time to replace it with a new, high quality faucet. There are many manufacturers making exceptional fixtures with high quality materials. We offer a wide range of brands to fit kitchen and lavatory design needs and your budget.

shower head repairs & installations

Quality shower heads will last homeowners for many years. However, other elements may lead to leaks and failures. High water pressure can cause leaks in the pipes that lead to shower heads, which then require reinstalling them with new plumbers tapes.

Many homeowners want to upgrade their fixtures to a high efficiency shower head to help save water costs, but don’t want to sacrifice water pressure. Fortunately, we have found that many quality manufacturers are making great products that can help customers save money while maintaining a luxury shower experience. Replacing a shower head is also a way to transform an ordinary shower to one with rainwater functions, music directly from the shower, LED light, and/or aromatherapy. For a small investment, homeowners can enjoy a spa-like shower in their own home. City Plumbing & Rooter can show homeowners how to achieve luxury at an affordable cost.

TOILET REPAIRS & REPLACEMENTS

Toilets can leak inside of the tank from a worn flapper or flush valve, from the toilet into the tank, or at the base. While running toilets are easy to identify by the sound, slow leaks from the toilet tank into the bowl can cost just as much water and go on for months before being noticeable. Small hairline cracks can also occur from tightening bolts too much or age and cannot be repaired. A toilet can also lose flush power due to calcium deposits inside of the toilet drain. Sometimes, an acid treatment can restore flow, but most often a brand new toilet will solve the problem permanently. Our team can provide a new toilet to fit your budget and match the look of your bathroom.

GARBAGE DISPOSALS

Some common disposal problems may include:

You can hear a humming sound. If the disposal hums and nothing happens, the motor could be blown. This means it would have to be replaced. If it is humming, but the blades won’t turn, it could be jammed inside of the disposal or need a reset.

The blades will not turn. This means that the disposal is jammed or there may be an issue with the motor. If this happens, you will need to call a professional to handle repairs.

Smells are coming from the disposal. This can happen when food gets stuck in the drain pipe and begins to rot. To fix this problem, you may need to use a plumbing snake in order to remove the clog.

It is leaking. Disposal leaks often mean a seal is broken somewhere in the kitchen drain, and will typically require replacement.

It drains slowly. If the disposal is draining slowly, a routine snaking will usually solve the problem.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I do if my toilet won't stop running?

A continuously running toilet can often be attributed to issues with the flapper, fill valve, or float. First, check if the flapper is sealing properly; if it's worn or warped, it may need replacement. Adjusting the float to ensure the tank stops filling before water reaches the overflow tube can also resolve the issue. If these steps don't work, the fill valve might need replacing. For complex situations, contacting City Plumbing and Rooter is recommended to avoid further damage.

  • My faucet is leaking. Can I fix it myself, or should I call a plumber?

Many faucet leaks can be fixed by replacing worn parts, such as O-rings, washers, or seals, which is a relatively straightforward process if you have basic DIY skills. However, if you're unsure of the cause or how to fix it, or if the faucet is old and parts are difficult to find, it's wise to call City Plumbing and Rooter to ensure a proper fix and avoid potential water damage.

  • My toilet is clogged. What should I do before calling a plumber?

For a clogged toilet, first, try using a plunger with a flange designed for toilets. Make sure to get a good seal around the outlet and plunge vigorously several times. If the clog doesn't clear, you can use a toilet auger to reach deeper into the drain and break up or retrieve the obstruction. Avoid using chemical drain cleaners in toilets as they can damage the porcelain and waste seals. If these methods don't work, the clog may be too far down the sewer line, and it's time to call City Plumbing and Rooter.

  • How do I fix a leaky faucet, and when should I replace it instead of repairing it?

To fix a leaky faucet, first, determine the type of faucet you have (compression, cartridge, ball, or disc). Shut off the water supply and disassemble the faucet to locate the worn parts—common culprits include worn washers, O-rings, or seals. Replace these components and reassemble the faucet. If the faucet continues to leak or is severely worn or corroded, it may be more cost-effective to replace it. Upgrading to a new faucet can also improve efficiency and update the look of your kitchen or bathroom.
